Located in the heart of Lucca's historic city centre, a stones throw from the ancient piazza of San Michele in Foro (site of the original forum of Roman Lucca)
We are within 50m of bars, gelateria, banks, general shops and clothing shops. The famous 'Buca di San Antonio' restaurant is at the other end of Via della Cervia providing high quality lunches and dinners within 30m of the front door. For a lower budget the Pizzeria/Trattoria 'Rusticanella 2' uses the alley that runs along the side of the apartment for its summer time al fresco dining and they are always ready to recieve you.
Lucca is ideally placed for the airport (Pisa is only 25 minutes drive away), the beaches (about 25-30 minutes drive), Florence (45-55 minutes) and the mountains including the ski resort of Abetone (60-75 minutes drive).
Access without a car is also good with train links to Pisa, Viareggio and Florence plus bus links to the same cities and more.

For arrival in a car: From the motorway (Firenze-Pisa Mare) take the exit for Lucca east. Once you have paid the toll, follow signs for “Centro”. After approx 500m you will go through a traffic light and cross the railway on a bridge. On descending from the bridge take the left or central lane (not the right hand lane) you will see the Lucca walls in front of you and a roundabout in the road. At the roundabout go straight and take the right hand lane. You only need to go about 150m past the roundabout at which point you will see a road on the right which you need to take. This enters the walls at Porta Sant’Anna. Immediately on passing through the old gates take a right turn. There is a parking lot on the right running along the inside of the walls, this is one of the three most convenient for the apartment. If there is no space, continue alongside the wall and you will see signs for two other car parks (Citadella and Lorenzini) either of which are fine. The maps above demonstrate locations of car parks etc. Often we are able to arrange meeting at car parks to assist with baggage etc
If traveling by bus to Lucca from Pisa airport you will get off the bus at Piazzale Verdi (just inside the walls). The quickest way to the apartment is along via San Paulino (with the walls/gate behind you there are two roads heading into the city centre. San Paulino is the one to the left of the piazza and is paved in stone. The other is via Vittorio Emmanuele which is to the right of the piazza, tarmac surface, wider and has a cinema on the corner).
Go straight along San Paulino, passing the church on your right. 50m after the church vai Burlamacchi crosses San Paolino. Continue another 20-30m and take the next right. If you arrive at the Piazza Citadella (with Puccini statue) you have gone 5m too far! Having turned right onto Vicolo della Cervia (road name sign at the far end of the street!) after 10m you arrive in Piazza della Cervia. Turn right and you will see a green door in the corner with a number 22. That’s us.
If arriving by train; From the station you need to cross the garden in front of the station, and then cross the road heading towards the walls. Having crossed the road, turn left and follow the road until you see Porta San Pietro on your right. Pass into the walls through the gate. Inside the gate the road forks to the left and to the right, bear left.
Continue approximately parallel to the inside of the wall for 50m. You will see the ramp up to the top of the walls on the left and a road (via Veneto) to the right. Trun right, cross Corso Garibaldi (after 30m) enter Piazza Napoleone, keep going straight on the left side of the Piazza. Leave Piazza Napoleone continuing straight until you arrive in Piazza San Michele. At San Michele turn left on Via San Paolino. Go about 60m until entering Piazza Citadella (with Puccini statue). And take the next left onto Vicolo della Cervia (road name sign at the far end of the street!) after 10m you arrive in Piazza della Cervia. Turn right and you will see a green door in the corner with a number 22. That’s us (again!). If arriving by train, I could meet you at the station with my car and carry bags/some people if that is helpful.
